2022 has been an absolute treat for fans of second gen Kpop. We got so many second gen comebacks and reunions this year alone. We have barely been able to move on from Bigbang’s recent comeback and 2NE1’s reunion at Coachella but we already have another big news to celebrate. Girls’ Generation is coming back! Yes, it’s not a drill - the iconic SM Entertainment girl group is gearing up for their first full group activities in five years.
On 17 May, SM Entertainment announced Girls’ Generation’s highly anticipated full group comeback in August through a press release to Newsen. The album comes in celebration of Girls’ Generation completing 15 years as a group so it is very meaningful for the members and fans alike. It’s also the first time we will see Taeyeon, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yoona, Sunny, Yuri, Sooyoung and Seolhyun promote and perform together since their Holiday Night promotions back in 2017.
Besides the album and new music from the girl group, fans are also excited about seeing the girls bring chaos and hilarity to the many variety shows they will attend to promote the album. SM Entertainment also revealed that the group will have their own reality show too.
Sones were a little skeptical when the news about this OT8 comeback first broke out because just a couple of days ago, SM Entertainment had teased Girls’ Generation would release something soon. But that turned out to be member Hyoyeon’s solo comeback with her first album.
