Former (G)i-dle Soojin Withdraws Lawsuit About Her School Bullying Accusations

Seo Soojin, a former member of the group (G)I-DLE, has ended the legal battle with the first exposer.

Seo Soojin's legal representative, Choi Seung-hwan, a lawyer at Barun Law Firm, announced on 8 September that he had completed the legal process with the first exposer of school violence, and emphasized the fact that he was acquitted as a result of the school violence committee investigation at the time.

Lawyer Choi said, "(At the time of the exposure) Seo Soojin's side expressed a position that there was abusive language in the process of arguing with the classmate on the phone, but that there was no school violence. I have apologized for what I did." He continued, "Seo Soojin never assaulted the exposer or extorted money, so he could neither admit nor apologize for that." At the time of my freshman year, I received an acquittal from the Autonomous Committee for Countermeasures against School Violence and was recognized as a victim of coercion by my seniors.”

"The fact that Seo Soojin was not disciplined for school violence, etc., does not disprove that there was no school violence claimed by the exposer," he said. If she had committed acts of violence, verbal abuse, extortion, etc., Seo Soojin would have been referred to the School Violence Committee again, and he would have been investigated and disciplined."

Attorney Choi said, "Seo Soojin filed a criminal complaint against the exposer to end the controversy through legal procedures, but there was a decision not to be charged." He continued, "In the case of the case, there is no other evidence to confirm the substantive facts other than the statements of the opposing parties."

In addition, as the opportunity to reveal his position on this matter, he said, "Seo Soojin thinks that it is the least reasonable thing to have the courage to speak up, even if it is only an excuse, to the fans who have supported her, and to those who have been hurt and offended by the controversy." He continued, "I am deeply aware that there is an emotional wound on the exposer's side, regardless of the truthfulness of the allegation. To all those who were emotionally wounded by their words and actions in middle school, the fans who cared for Seo Soojin, and to all of you who may have felt disappointed. We offer a sincere apology."

Seo Soojin was caught up in controversy when it was revealed in February of last year that she was a perpetrator of school violence while attending middle school. At the time, Seo Soojin filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on charges of defamation by spreading false information.

However, as additional revealers appeared, he stopped all activities and left the team in August of that year. In March of this year, seven months after leaving the team, the exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment was also terminated.
