BLACKPINK just returned from their 2 year hiatus and they have already climbed atop the Billboard's global charts!
The girl group’s latest title track Shut Down from their new studio album, BORN PINK, debuted at No. 1 on both the Global 200 and the Global Excl. U.S. charts on 26 September. The Global 200 chart is determined by the sales and streaming data from more than 200 countries, whereas the Global Excl. U.S. chart ranks songs based on data from countries other than the United States.
This marks BLACKPINK second time topping the Global 200 chart as they had done so earlier in the month with their pre-release track, Pink Venom, from BORN PINK too. Shut Down is now the only K-pop song released in 2022 to top this chart, alongside Pink Venom. Shut Down is BLACKPINK's third number one song on the Global Excl. US chart, following their previous releases, Pink Venom and their 2020 release Lovesick Girls.
According to Luminate (which was formerly known as MRC Data), Shut Down racked up 152.8 million streams and 17,000 downloads worldwide during the tracking week of 16 to 22 September. BLACKPINK is now the only act to have topped the Global 200 multiple times, joining BTS, Justin Bieber, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Pink Venom has returned to second place on the Billboard Global 200 after topping the chart for two weeks and remaining in the top four for two more. This makes BLACKPINK the first group and third overall act to rank in No. 1 and No. 2 in the same week on this chart.
