Synopsis for The Idol describes its plot as, “a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner turned secret cult leader.” The Weeknd and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson are the two co-creators of the show. Additionally, The Weeknd is starring in the series alongside fellow Chanel muse and actress Lily Rose-Depp and musician Troye Sivan.
According to the news outlet TV Daily, Jennie has been offered a small cameo in the series.
Jennie was seen hanging out with The Weeknd last year when she had gone on a trip to LA. Rumors about the two artists supposedly collabing spread among fans at the time. Now, fans are speculating that her being offered this role possibly came out from that.
Till date, Jisoo is the only Blackpink member who has been taking up acting gigs alongside her idol career. She got her first leading role in last year’s Snowdrop which aired from December 2021 to January 2022. She starred opposite Jung Haein for the series and fans loved their chemistry on screen. Jisoo also received a lot of love and praise for her acting in Snowdrop.
In other Blackpink news, Korean news sources reported last month that the girl group is planning to comeback soon - as early as July - but YG Entertainment hasn’t made any official announcements about this yet. Blackpink will supposedly comeback sometime in the third quarter of this year and embark on a world tour in the fourth quarter of 2022. Members of Blackpink have however been hinting that they are in fact working on a comeback right now.
