BTS won in 3 categories at the Billboard Music Awards this year. The group was nominated in 6 different categories at the 2022 award show including Top Billboard Global Song (excluding the U.S.), Top Rock Song, Top Billboard Global Artist, Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song.
At the event held on 15 May, BTS took home trophies for Top Duo/Group, Top Selling Song for their 2021 hit Butter and Top Selling Artist. Including the award this year, they won the Top Group/Duo category for the third time. This makes them the artists who have won in that category the most number of times alongside One Direction who also won in the category in 2013, 2016 and 2017.
The group was unable to attend the Billboard Music Awards this year as they are busy preparing for their upcoming album. They have been regularly attending and performing at the show since 2017. Their upcoming album, titled Proof, is slated to be released on 10 June and will celebrate the nine years worth of history of the group.
