BTS won in 3 categories at the Billboard Music Awards this year. The group was nominated in 6 different categories at the 2022 award show including Top Billboard Global Song (excluding the U.S.), Top Rock Song, Top Billboard Global Artist, Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song.
At the event held on 15 May, BTS took home trophies for Top Duo/Group, Top Selling Song for their 2021 hit Butter and Top Selling Artist. Including the award this year, they won the Top Group/Duo category for the third time. This makes them the artists who have won in that category the most number of times alongside One Direction who also won in the category in 2013, 2016 and 2017.
The group was unable to attend the Billboard Music Awards this year as they are busy preparing for their upcoming album. They have been regularly attending and performing at the show since 2017. Their upcoming album, titled Proof, is slated to be released on 10 June and will celebrate the nine years worth of history of the group.
The group also recently completed their four-day concert at Las Vegas as a part of their Permission to Dance on Stage tour.
With a total of 12 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) trophies to their name, BTS is now the most awarded group at the BBMAs. The title previously belonged to the legendary 90s and early 2000s American girl group Destiny’s Child who have a total of 11 BBMA wins.
In other news, BTS member Suga recently collaborated with another Kpop superstar, Psy, on his new track That That. The song and the music video for it are as spectacular as you would expect from this high profile collab. Check it out below!
Congratulations to BTS! We are eagerly anticipating Proof.
