aespa Have The Highest 1st Week Sales Of All Girl Groups By Selling 1 Million Copies Of Girls

aespa are the newest group to join Kpop’s ‘Million Seller’ list!

aespa released their album, Girls, and a music video for the title track of the same name on 8 July. Both the song and the album have been a hit. A few days before the official release, we got the report that a whopping 1,610,517 copies of the album were pre-ordered. With this aespa broke the record for the highest number of stock pre-orders for a female Kpop artist.

Now they have followed it up with another record. On 14 July, Circle Chart reported that aespa had sold 1,426,487 copies of Girls within the first week of release. (Gaon Chart recently changed their name to Circle Chart.) Girls sold 806,891 copies in the first day alone. They now hold the record for the highest first week album sales of any Kpop girl groups. This record was previously held by Blackpink who sold 680,000 copies of their last album, The Album, which was released in 2020.

Moreover, aespa is also the only Kpop girl group to sell over a million copies of their album within the first week of release. Till date, only four other Kpop groups have sold a million copies of their album in the first week and all of them are boy groups. BTS have five albums with over a million first week sales (MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA - 2,130,480, MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 - 3,378,633, BE - 2,274,882, Butter - 1,975,363 and Proof - 2,752,496), Seventeen have four (Heng:garæ - 1,097,891, Your Choice - 1,364,127, Attacca - 1,335,862 and Face The Sun - 2,067,769), NCT Dream have two (Hot Sauce - 1,010,948 and Glitch Mode - 1,405,199), and Tomorrow X Together have one (Thursday’s Child - 1,072,854).
