Another Red Velvet member is going solo. This time around its Seulgi who fans lovingly call the group’s ace.
According to a report from My Daily that came out on 6 September, Seulgi is preparing a solo album with the goal of releasing it in October. This is possibly the most awaited solo debut in the last few years in Kpop.
Red Velvet's agency SM Entertainment confirmed the news about Seulgi’s solo debut on 6 September with the statement, "Seulgi is preparing her first solo album with the goal of releasing it in October. Please give it a lot of interest."
This marks Seulgi's debut as a solo singer after 8 years of entering the music industry. The idol debuted as a member of Red Velvet in 2014 and with whom she has released hits like Happiness, Dumb Dumb, Red Flavor, Peek-A-Boo, Psycho and Feel My Rhythm. In 2020, she formed a unit with fellow Red Velvet member Irene and released their first mini-album 'Monster', proving her colorful musical capabilities.
Seulgi is the third member of the group to release a solo album after Wendy and Joy. She has previously released solo OSTs like 2019’s Always for the drama The Man Who Became King, but this is the first time she will release an official album. Fans have high expectations about this solo debut of Seulgi.
