3 Monsta X Members Renew Contracts With Starship Entertainment

Starship Entertainment recently revealed that they are discussing and proceeding with contract renewal procedures with the members of Monsta X.

Contract renewal is a term that usually brings a lot of fear and dread among Kpop fans as many idols decide to not renew contracts with their company and their group either disbands - officially or unofficially - or the group proceeds with further activities without the members. This leads to the dynamics of the group never being the same again - in most instances.

We’re not saying refusing to re-sign with their original agencies is a bad thing - we’re sure these idols have a rational head on their shoulders and their decisions to renew contracts or not is based on multiple factors. But as fans, it’s always a little sad to see your group disband or carry on without your favorite member.

In the case of Monsta X, we know that three members - namely, Shownu, Kihyun and Hyungwon - have renewed contracts with Starship while the remaining members - Minhyuk, Joohoney, and I.M are still in discussions about terms and their future activities with the company.

Starship’s official statement read:

Hello, this is Starship Entertainment.
We are always grateful to the fans who love and support MONSTA X unwaveringly.
We have renewed contracts with Monsta X members Shownu, Kihyun, and Hyungwon. We promise to provide unstinting support based on trust and faith in the future.
We are currently discussing with Minhyuk, Jooheon, and I.M in depth so that we can head in the best direction for the group and the members. Both the company and the 6 members’ love for MONSTA X remains the same. We will announce our official position as soon as the contract renewal is settled.
We will continue to provide full support for all MONSTA X activities in the future too.
Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Monsta X recently came back with their mini album, Shape of Love, with the title track, Love, on 26 April. They have already broken their first week sales record by selling 321,531 copies of the album (in the first week) on Hanteo. The track has been well received by fans and has already won multiple music shows.

We wish the contract renewal settles in favor of the group and the members! We will continue to support Monsta X and the individual members regardless of the outcome!

How do you feel about this? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
